How the "restring by" date is worked out
The database publishes no durability figure, so this does not predict when a string will break — it predicts when the bed will have shed enough tension to stop feeling like the one you paid for. That is a different question, and for most players it is the one that matters: a polyester bed is usually dead long before it snaps.
Each string's tension-loss percentile places it between 40 hours for the best-holding strings in the database and 10 for the worst. Those two endpoints are the conventional figures stringers quote, not measurements — the string-to-string differences come from the data, the scale they sit on does not.
This estimates when the bed goes dead, not when the string snaps. If you break strings before you notice them going dull, you are a breaker — thickness and material matter far more to you than tension hold does.
